Malcolm Williams pose

Malcolm Williams & Great Faith is a Chicago-based gospel group with the remarkable ability to communicate the Word of God through music, bringing Biblical relevance and a keen understanding of human struggles and triumphs to its songs and performances.

Williams began his gospel music career at the age of six when he was named director of the sixty-member Junior Choir at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago, Illinois.  Building upon such humble but authentic beginnings, Williams has gone on to compose more than 200 songs, some of which have been embraced by top gospel artists such as Beverly Crawford, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Dottie Peoples and the Gospel Music Workshop of America Mass Choir to name a few.

In April 1994, The Voices of Great Faith was organized.  The group earned a great deal of exposure in its early years while Malcolm was performing alongside Stellar Award Winner Mark Hubbard & The United Voices For Christ.  In 1997, Malcolm Williams & the Voices of Great Faith entered and won prestigious gospel competitions sponsored by Wrigley and McDonald’s, and also earned Chicago radio station Gospel 1390’s Choir Award.  This success “trifecta” encouraged Great Faith to take the next step and record an album, Gotta Make It, in 1998.  Establishing a fan base four years later, the group followed up with Renew Me.

Malcolm Williams & Great Faith’s third release, Walking In My Destiny (2006), was a watershed moment.  The album’s popularity secured the group a place among gospel music’s trendsetters.  “My Everything,” “A Chance” and “Due Season,” the latter featuring lead vocals by the explosive singer Kim McFarland, became radio favorites.  The songs were embraced by churches across the nation and the album earned a Stellar Award nomination.  On the strength of Walking in My Destiny, Malcolm Williams & Great Faith continued to reach new heights by appearing on Bobby Jones Show.

Favour was granted when the group recorded In Your Glory (2009). This CD not only continued to raise the credibility of Williams as a gifted songwriter it also garnered the group four Stellar Award Nominations.  This CD quickly became a must have for Ministers of Music across the country as church choirs sang “The Blood Still Works”, “Oh Oh Give Thanks” and the heart moving “I Repent”.

The current release Spectacular (2011) will yet again please Fans and especially Ministers of Music and Directors because of the new material that is perfectly fitting for today’s worship services.  Williams has balanced traditional and contemporary tunes that fit nicely into the repertoires of choirs, praise teams and groups everywhere.  The calypso-inspired first single “Everybody Praise Him” is the perfect lead to capture the energy of Great Faith and their new project.  The worship song “Spectacular” reminds ust aht God is greatert han any attribute we can give to Him.  Williams’ writing has continued to develop as heard in the strong ballads “See His Face” and “When God Sees The Blood”.  “I Feel A Praise” and “Anything” remind us why this Writer, Director and Producer was given the name “Church Boy of Gospel”.

But Malcolm Williams & Great Faith is more than a singing group: they also have a passion for community outreach.  The group’s selfless assistance to the less fortunate includes feeding the homeless, ministering in shelters, and performing at back-to-school functions.  Malcolm being called “the Church Boy of Gospel” and Malcolm Williams & Great Faith being called “what’s next in music for the church” continue to develop a legion of fans.  Malcolm Williams & Great Faith is destined to carry on the spirit and tradition of gospel music while offering an unbelievable praise and worship experience.
